LiDAR is a remote sensing technology used in surveying which uses the pulse from a laser to measure distance to target. LiDAR is an acronym of Light Detection and Ranging. LiDAR system calculates, times it takes for the light to hit an object or surface and reflect back to the scanner. The distance is calculated using the velocity of light. And data collected is known as point cloud.

LiDAR data collected as a point cloud is used to map entire city or AOI and accurately pinpoint the structure high accuracy. Features & objects such as road network, bridges, visible objects, vegetation etc can be extracted in digital format using point cloud data.
